Black farmers and the U.S. government have settled a long-standing class action suit alleging racial discrimination in the Department of Agriculture farm loan program. In addition to a payment of $1.25 billion to African American farmers, the USDA will also establish an Ombuds office to improve dispute resolution efforts.
