Florence Boroson, who founded the Office of the Ombudsman at the State University of New York, Stony Brook, passed away on May 20 at the age of 83. Boroson established the Stony Brook Ombuds Office in 1989 and served as director until 1999. Prior to that, she was director of personnel at the Stony Brook Library, an assistant dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, and special assistant to University President John Marburger.
