The University of Louisville is hiring its first, permanent Ombuds. The 80%-time appointment assists faculty and staff (including graduate and research teaching assistants) with non-academic issues and concerns.
While independent, the Ombuds Office is administratively housed in the Office of the Provost and will be reviewed annually by and report to a three person committee composed of the Chairs of the Faculty Senate and the Staff Senate, and an appointee from the School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies. The appointment will take over an office that was created in January 2009 following the federal investigation of a former dean for possible misuse of a federal education grant and allegations of a broken grievance process. Prof. Dennis Hall has been serving as the Interim Ombuds.
Applicants should have a master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field and four years of related experience. In addition, IOA certification and completion of IOA basic course required within the first year of employment. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. No salary indicated (current full-time salary band for the position is $63,894-$110,837).
