University of Kansas Ombuds Kellie Harmon works with two part-time faculty to assist faculty, staff and students confidentially, neutrally and informally. Between March 2008 and June 2009, her office had nearly 500 contacts -- most with unclassified professional staff and undergraduate students.
Harmon said some of the most common student concerns involve conflicts with professors, grades and academic misconduct. It is therefore no surprise that the KU Ombuds Office receives most of its calls starting in mid-semester, and even more around finals. (LJWorld.)
