Keith Smith, who was appointed Ombudsman for the Stanford University School of Medicine less than a year ago, died Tuesday in Washington, D.C., at the age of 59. Although new to the Ombuds profession, Smith was well-known on the Stanford campus, having worked there in various employee relations positions since 1977.
