Pennsylvania State University has appointed Bill Carlsen to serve as Ombudsperson for the College of Education. It appears that this is a new program for the College (one of 14 at Penn State). The position is authorized and elected by Senate Faculty action, and primarily serves faculty.
Carlsen is a full member of the College's faculty and serves as the director of the Center for Science and the Schools. His research interests include teacher knowledge, environmental science education, and scientist-school collaborations, and he has has served as principal investigator on many projects funded by NSF and other agencies. He earned his AB from Dartmouth and PhD from Stanford. (Penn State College of Ed Ombuds.)
