This week, the Small Business Administration Ombuds issued its annual report to Congress which rates federal agencies responsiveness to small business concerns. Ombuds Nicholas Owens cited the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit among the least responsive to regulatory and compliance issues during fiscal 2007. The 80-page commended six agencies for their regulatory compliance assistance and willingness to work with the Ombuds office: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the departments of Transportation and Commerce.
