On the first day of the 112th Congress, Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) introduced a bill, HR 71, that would create an Ombuds office for federal air marshals. although the text of the bill has not been published, it appears similar to legislation introduced by Rep. Jackson-Lee and approved by the House in 2009. The earlier bill did not come to a vote in the Senate.
HR 71 has been referred to the House Committee on Homeland Security for hearings. (Open Congress, HR 71.)
