The community college for applied arts and technology in Toronto has named George Fry as its new Ombudsperson effective January 10. Frey succeeds Liz MacLennan who has served as Seneca’s Ombuds since 2002. The announcement was made by Seneca's President, David Agnew, who previously was the Canadian Ombudsman of Banking Services and Investments.
The appointment as Ombuds marks Fry's return to Seneca after he retired in 2008 as a Chair in the Faculty of Continuing Education and Training. Fry had worked at the college since 1973 and served in several positions including Associate Registrar, an Academic Chair, King Campus Principal, and Bookstore Operations Manager. He is a graduate of Seneca and York University. (Seneca Facebook Note.)
