An article in the PSU Vanguard explains how the campus has tried to fill the role of the Ombuds Office six months after it was closed. Most of the Ombuds matters are being diverted to other offices such as the Dean of Student Life, Human Resources, and Academic Affairs. However, Michele Toppe, Dean of Student Life, admits that there are very few people on campus who are truly confidential.
Unfortunately, the article does not answer its own question: "What was gained and what was lost by the closing of the Ombuds Office?" (PSU Vanguard.)
