Vickie Tolbert has been named the Campus Ombudsperson for the 7,700-student private university in Chicago. Tolbert has worked at IIT for 15 years, initially at the office of Student Health and Counseling Services and more recently as the Administration and Operations Manager in the Dean of Students Office.
When asked what she would like to see at IIT if obstacles were not a factor, Tolbert said she would bring a massive diversity training program to campus and insist that every professor and staff member goes though [it regardless of their rank or position. She explained that people are often insensitive without knowing they’re being insensitive. (TechNews; IIT Ombuds.)
